How Lastmod finds it
Lastmod looks for pages that appear for the same search terms in Search Console.
What you do
Merge them with a redirect, or give each its own focus in title, headings and text.
How the work is followed up
A new page has no earlier clicks to compare with, so there is no before-and-after. Lastmod follows whether the page is published and found, and shows clicks later as context only.
