AI Overview

An AI Overview is a summary written by AI that Google shows at the top of some search results, with links to the pages it drew on.

Not every search shows one. Google decides per query, and the answer can differ between searches and over time. The links inside it are the sources.

Being one of those sources is not the same as ranking high in the ordinary results, and a click on a source works differently from a click on a result. That is why it is worth looking at separately.

In Lastmod

Lastmod looks at a limited sample of search results for your queries and flags the ones where an AI Overview appears and your site is not among its sources. It shows where to look, not why you are missing.
