How Lastmod finds it
Lastmod reads the search results for your search terms and checks the sources shown in the AI Overview.
What you do
Look at the searches yourself, compare the answer with your page, and decide whether the page deserves an update. Record the decision.
How the work is followed up
There is nothing on the site to check. You record what you decided and why, and Lastmod keeps it with the date.
