llms.txt

Llms.txt is a proposed convention: a Markdown file at /llms.txt that gives AI assistants a short description of a site and links to its most useful pages.

It was proposed in 2024 as a readable map for language models, next to robots.txt for crawlers and the sitemap for search engines. Writing one is cheap: a title, a summary and a list of links with a line each.

It is not a standard, and the evidence that AI systems fetch or use it is limited. Major search engines have not said they use it. Adding the file is a low-cost experiment, not a way to get mentioned.

Whether an AI crawler may read your pages at all is decided in robots.txt, not here.

In Lastmod

Lastmod does not fetch or assess the llms.txt of your site, and makes no claim about what it does for AI visibility. What it does read is your robots.txt, per AI crawler. Lastmod publishes an llms.txt for its own site.
